An independent reivew into the Money Advice Service (MAS) has been launched by The Economic Secretary to the Treasury, Andrea Leadsom.
The MAS is a body which has been set up by the government to provide financial advice and education to consumers. The government has committed to review MAS by the end of this parliament and that an independent reviewer will be appointed to carry out this task.
The review will be led by Christine Farnish who will report to the Economic Secretary to the Treasury by the end of 2014.
The review will encompass:
- An assessment of the need for greater consumer education and advice and the role that the MAS should play in the wider consumer education and advice plans.
- Assess how effectively and efficiently the MAS is meeting this need through its current approach and delivery models; and
- Make recommendations on any changes to be made to MAS’s approach and delivery that would ensure that it meets its requirement.
